In the late 1980's, a group of Shreveport artists, musicians, songwriters, dancers and poets created a series of live performances: "Works In Progress." They introduced original, experimental performance art to Northwest Louisiana.
Founding member Alan Dyson stated, "We wanted to do stuff. We created performances with professionals and students. Every performance was different. The locations and moods of our performances changed often. We used projectors and trippy lighting and bathtubs - it was all there!"
Original members included Bruce Allen, Dan Garner, Dorothy Kristin Hanna, Tracey Chappell, Renee Chevallier, Donna Moore and Donna Service (AKA the "Donnas"), Michael Harold, and a host of other creatives. "Works In Progress" served as a springboard for many artistic careers in North Louisiana - and that is why we chose it as our namesake.
