Kimberly Gable is a talented Shreveport woodworker who creates jewelry, sculpture and custom home decor.
"Capturing the beauty of nature is everything to me. Being able to take a piece of wood that has been cut down or thrown out to the trash and show the beauty of the wood grain in a brand new piece of art is what I do. I believe that getting outside is good for the soul. Through my artwork, I try to bring the outside in. Living with beautiful objects that pay tribute to the natural world reminds us to reconnect with nature and slow down a bit."
Lacey Stinson is a well-known multimedia visual artist from Ruston/Dubach in North Central Louisiana.
"I have been committed to learning how to paint since 1975. Along the way, I have earned BFA and MFA degrees in studio drawing and painting at Louisiana Tech University. In 2008, I began designing and illustrating poetry chapbooks and children's books for two friends. One of these illustration projects led to my current primary thematic painting projects, Small Worlds. I am somewhat of an idealist, believing that rivaling Rembrandt and da Vinci is entirely possible within our current capitalistic, mass information culture, even if it progresses at a slower pace and is less identifiable as contemporary, even though every bit of it is. I am a Ruston native, though 8 of my current 58 years of life were spent in other states, Georgia in particular. I do portraits, preferring to do them as live pencil sketches; plein air landscapes in oil on canvas or paper; abstracts; mixed media collages; and of course paintings that may involve all of the above. I've had articles about my work appear in newspapers in Monroe, Ruston, and Baton Rouge, and an article in the regional cultural magazine, Bayou Life, which described my then-current studies for, and work on a drawing of a pregnant mother and her pregnant mare. This mother theme, inspired by my partner's doula business and work toward becoming a midwife, continues in other drawings whenever pregnant mothers agree to sit for me. I have exhibited in competitions since 1978, winning numerous awards, best of shows, and scholarships since that time."
